The pharmaceutical discipline of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was founded in the early 1950s by the famous pharmacologist Professor Jin, Zhengjun. Aiming at setting up an integrated state-of-art research system in pharmaceutical field, it has been achieving remarkable accomplishment. There are comprehensive training and educational system including post-doctoral training station, a doctoral program in pharmacy, two master degree programs in pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine, and two bachelor degree programs in pharmacy and clinical pharmacy. In addition, there are part-time master degree programs in pharmacy and pharmaceutical engineering. The discipline of pharmacy covers all 8 majors including Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biochemical and Microbial Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Administration. In 2017, “Pharmacy” discipline at SJTU was ranked as one of top six in China by Ministry of Education of China. Besides, “Pharmacology and Toxicology” in SJTU was ranked 28th by the US News, 71th by the ESI and top 1‰ by QS World University Ranking by Subject. The School of Pharmacy hosts “Engineering Research Center of Cell & Therapeutic Antibody, Ministry of Education (ERCCTA)”, “Third Level Laboratory of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine”, and “Shanghai Key Laboratory of Chiral Drug Molecular Engineering”. The School of Pharmacy received major grants including “State Major Important New Drug Development Tech-Platform Grant”,“Clinical Evaluation Research Technology Platform - Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism”, “National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program)”, “National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program)”. The School encourages domestic and international collaborations through academic and/or industrial translational collaborations.
